To the demon called suicide

Written by Fortune Chiamaka Jacob

Last month, you lurked around standing very close to mama Nkechi’s shed but unknown to us you were more than a shadow.

For days you trailed her daughter Nkechi until she became a shadow of her self.

Whenever I talked to her she seemed to stare into space muttering only “how could you, how could you?

In the midnight we heard screams coming from their house rushing in, we found Nkechi on the floor with frothy foam on her mouth. She was dead.

Two weeks ago, it was Jubril.

He had struggled to save up money for his university education and just a day to paying for his jamb, thieves broke into their home.

Then you appeared again, and like Nkechi Jubril was found dead.

Unlike Nkechi though, he was dangling from the mango tree at the back of the house.

Four days ago jamb result was released, Ekaette has not gone to the market since then. She called me to say I shouldn’t wait for her.

Yesterday afternoon her eye was red. When I asked what she scored she lied that she hasn’t checked. I don’t know how she forgot we bought the scratch card together.

Now, I just saw her with a bottle returning from that mallam whose front teeth has more windows than our house in the village. My nosy self couldn’t help but ask the content of the polythene bag. She said it was otapiapia. I am not a mumu, otapiapia dosen’t come in such big bottles. Then from the corner of my eyes I saw you, and that’s why I came to meet you, it is time you go.

It is time you vanish and never return, you have caused more pain than guns and knives put together. You have left families with holes that only God can mend. I know exactly what you have come to do.

Show Ekaette the demonic side of you. No way! You have robbed enough, you have taken enough. The sniper that she bought, I have taken it. And I have called her mother too, but I want to engage you first, cause I’m not afraid of you. I know exactly what you have planned. To gently whisper to her and the next thing we will hear is death by suicide.

And like the demon you are, you’ll sleuth away unnoticed, waiting for another victim.

I stand today to declare that you destroyer of generations, you eternal doom, loose your grip and hold over the young ones of Nigeria.

No more shall it be said that the demon of suicide is out on her rampage again. Now leave, we have had enough.

Suicide, leave Nigeria! IJN

Hear the word of the Lord:

And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it. – Isaiah 28:18 (KJV)

Kindly say a word of prayer against suicide in the comments box.

  1. Heavenly Father, we thank You for the power and authority You have given us in Your Word, to overcome principalities and powers in high places.
In unison with my brethren, I come against every spirit of suicide lurking around the youths of our generation. We neutralize its powers and put its plans to naught in Jesus’ name!! (Amen).
I pray Thee dear Father, that you may draw the youths to the knowledge of Your Word; that they may know You and understand Your love. That they may be deeply connected to, and grounded in Your Word, so no contrary thought such as suicide may overpower their minds.
Open their eyes and cause them to see beyond the physical; so that in spite of the present physical challenges, they will still be able to see the great glory and success reserved for them, then will be manifested in due time.
Please cause them to never stop believing in Your Word, but to keep on believing so they can always have the victory and put the devil to shame, no matter how tough the battle is.
I thank You so very much dear God, for I believe you have heard and will answer according to the counsel of Your will. Blessed be Thy name, You who reigns even now and forever.
All these things I pray in the name of our Gracious God and Savior Jesus Christ; Amen!!!
